GBL (gamma-butyrolactone) and GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) are both central nervous system depressants that are commonly used as recreational drugs. Even at lower doses, GHB, GBL and 1,4-BD are drugs that can affect your day-to-day activities. People with the disorder known as succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency, also known as γ-hydroxybutyric aciduria, have elevated levels of GHB in their urine, blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Withdrawal
An analogue that is not a 1,4-butanediol derivative but is related and still shows affinity for the GHB receptor is 3-chloropropanoic acid (UMB66).
